Mike Rose was a much respected secretary of the Fell Runners Association, committee member of the Gritstone Mountaineering Club and a Jack Bloor Trustee from 1985 – 2003.
Mike knew Jack from the fells, he valued his friendship and companionship. Jack’s completion of the Bob Graham round at the age of 52 (1978) spurred Mike to have a go. He had huge support, his first attempt failed but the very next weekend he tried again and succeeded.
Mike also knew Jack from the Gritstone Club and had great admiration and respect for him.
Thus it was entirely natural when the Jack Bloor Race was set up in 1985, Mike offered the club to marshal the checkpoints, which have been provided by the Gritstone club ever since.
The engraved Rose Bowl is in memory of Mike who passed away in 2003.
